About Cam

Cameron Laird (“Cam”) is a Walkley Award winning news, editorial & commercial photographer based in Townsville, northern Australia. He covers Australia, SE Asia and the Pacific for Australian and British newspapers and magazines.  Over the past 16 years as a freelance professional photographer Cam has covered assignments from Tokyo to Tasmania, Phuket to Perth, Christchurch to Cambodia and everywhere in between.

Major newspaper clients include The Courier-Mail, The Sunday Mail, The Australian, Sydney Morning Herald and London’s Daily Mail.
Cam also does contract commercial assignments for clients including Rio Tinto Coal Australia, Appelberg Sweden, Ergon Energy, DairyFarmers and the Port of Townsville.
He is represented by Rex Features (UK) and Barcroft Pacific
