Craig Lowndes steers his Holden V8 Supercar around the Townsville track
Yesterday was race one of the 2010 Townsville 400 and Jamie Whincup once again finished first. I took the opportunity to set the 5D MkII (with 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM) down to shoot a quick demo 1080 24p HD video of the first lap from turn one while I was shooting with the long lens. BIG weekend in Townsville!

It has been a busy couple of week in Townsville, Qld. We have had the Townsville Show (exhibition/fair depending on where you live), a round of the Australian Offshore Superboat Championships, two four-day test matches between Australia A and Pakistan A, the Cowboys have played and beaten the Sharks, a NQ Fury FC family fun day and this weekend will be the biggest of the lot when V8 Supercar racing comes to town. The Townsville 400 will be held over three days from Friday to Sunday and I’ll be covering the event for News Limited metropolitan newspapers (The Courier-Mail/Sunday Mail, The Daily Telegraph/Sunday Telegraph, The Herald Sun/Sunday Herald Sun, The Advertiser/The Sunday Mail, Sunday Times, and The Australian/Weekend Australian). Should keep me on my toes!
It looks like it is going to be a perfect weekend in Townsville with clear skies and cool low-mid 20′s during the day. Gentlemen, start your engines!
