Admittedly this equipment isn’t heavy but it’s amazing how much extra there is when you venture even slightly into video.  I recently picked up a Sony UWP UHF wireless microphone package and gave it a spin during the press conference after the North Queensland Cowboys v Gold Coast Titans match.  I transmit my photographs from the press room so it was easy peasy.

As the room is full of TV networks after the match there really is no need for me to worry about setting up my microphone.  I just grabbed the frequency that one of the networks was using on their Sony wireless kit and tuned in to that.  Then it was as simple as plugging the output of the Sony UWP receiver into my MacBook Pro (which I was working on anyway) and recording the press conference audio in Quicktime.
