$10 million of gifts for 800 staff – What a boss!!!
Posted by Cameron in Newspaper, Photography on November 19th, 2010
I attended a press call today where Queensland multi-billionare Clive Palmer played a real-life Santa, handing out gifts valued at $10,000,000 to the 800 staff at his Yabulu Nickel Refinery. They are to receive 55 Mercedes Benz cars, 700 five-star trips to Fiji and 45 five-star trips to the Mirage Resort at Port Douglas.
Only 18 months ago the BHP Billiton owned Yabulu refinery was on the brink of collapse until Palmer stepped in with a fat wallet, saved 800 local jobs and in a short period turned the plant from a loss-maker into a highly profitable venture.
Palmer is hosting one of two Christmas parties tonight (to cover both day and night shifts) with each rumoured to be costing in excess of $1,500,000. Spies tell me that up to 20 acts will showcase the event including Powderfinger & Wolfmother as well as AC/DC & Kylie Minogue tribute bands and comedians from the US and Australia.
Wonder if Queensland Nickel need a staff photographer?

19 November 2010 Townsville, Qld - Queensland Nickel chief Clive Palmer rewarded his entire workforce of 800 at the Yabulu Nickel Refinery with Christmas gifts including 50 Mercedes Benz sedans, 700 international five-star holidays to Fiji and 50 weekends to the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas.
