Yesterday was race one of the 2010 Townsville 400 and Jamie Whincup once again finished first. I took the opportunity to set the 5D MkII (with 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM) down to shoot a quick demo 1080 24p HD video of the first lap from turn one while I was shooting with the long lens. Here’s a quick look – feel free to click here to watch in 720p or in the full 1080p res!
Took a couple of minutes out of shooting yesterday to give you a look at the view from a few photo positions around the Townsville 400 track. Thank god for earplugs (when I remember to put them in!)
Well, racing has just finished as I type this – what a great event. My personal congratulations to those involved in bringing the race to my home town. Around 170,000 people attended the event over the three days and I haven’t heard a single complaint (apart from us photographers in the media centre ). Hopefully next year the organisers will take advice from the official V8 Supercar snappers and organise better photo positions and position the media centre in the infield and not the outfield. However, we were supplied with plenty of refreshments and no shortage of help so for that I am really grateful!
Here’s a small selection of my snaps from today [click pics to enlarge]
Was a GREAT day today in Townsville as the first day of racing kicked off at the Townsville 400. I was commissioned to shoot some general views, crowds and excitement as well as Miss Universe Australia Rachael Finch. No problem I said! Managed to squeeze in a bit of action as well. All in all, a top day. Give the pics a click to see a larger version.
